Yesterday saw our men’s development side win the Berkshire junior trophy
The game started as it would go on, at a furious pace. The first chance came just two minutes in, a quick break from Berks County with striker finding space in behind the Wraysbury back line thankful for Wraysbury to only put the ball wide. Wraysbury hit back and went ahead after a Matt Lewis picked the ball up in the right back position then played a pall through ball into the middle where Jack Deabill found space inside the box and his first time shot was saved well at his near post by the Berks county keeper but was unable to keep hold of it where a goalmouth scrabble took place where full back Matt Lewis continued his run into the box managed to scrabble the ball home.

Berks county reacted well to going a goal town and piled on the pressure causing Wraysbury problems. Berks county managed to equalise when a cross from the left side came in and young Keeper Jack Ettridge came out to punch the cross away but was adjudged to have fouled the Berks county striker and the referee awarded a penalty which was tucked away to Jack Ettridge’s right hand side. Nick Baker then produced a moment of brilliance as he picked up the ball just inside the County half, took the ball past two Berks county players and then hitting the ball into the top left hand corner to regain the lead from Wraysbury. Wraysbury 2–1 Berks County

We didn’t have to wait long for Wraysbury to put daylight between themselves and Berks County in the second half with Wraysbury playing some great football winning the ball back in the edge of their box Will Stone played the ball into midfield into Jack Hughes picked out the run of substitute Isaias Moreta down the right and his first time cross into the box Ryan Fraser dummied the ball for Jack Deabill arriving into the box who tucked the ball into the the far post. Great team goal. Wraysbury 3-1 Berks County
Wraysbury increased their lead when a corner from the right from Sam Jennings towards the back post where Jack Hughes had tucked the ball in at the back post for a composed finished Wraysbury 4-1 Berks County
Wraysbury were then given the opportunity to extended their lead where Sam Jenning picked the ball up on the edge of the box and was bundled over in the area and Sam then stepped up to take the spot kick himself, sending he wrong way and burying the ball into the bottom right corner. Wraysbury 5 -1 Berks County
Berks County and looked lively, shooting from distance which was well saved by Jack Ettridge Berks County got a consolation goal, Isaias Moreta headed away the initial cross but it fell to Berks County on the edge of the box and volleyed it into the top corner . Wraysbury 5-2 Berks County
Wraysbury were able to see out the rest of the game to be crowned champions.
